talk about smoking in public

Post  Apple Deng on Tue Sep 23, 2014 3:32 pm

It has been argued that smokers should have the right to smoke, but it's not reasonable if that right is harmful to others. In fact, if people smoke in public places, non-smokers have no choice but to become secondhand smokers. Moreover, passive smoking has been linked to an endless list of serious health problems such as lung cancer and heart disease. Non-smokers have the right to choose not to be passive smokers. Most smokers, so this argument goes,Smokers need to maintain a certain level of nicotine in their blood to remain content. People will smoke more at home. However , if smoking was banned in public places, it would no longer be a social activity. A ban would encourage smokers to smoke less or give up.

smoking in public areas

Post  Orange Ou on Tue Sep 23, 2014 3:37 pm

Smoking in public is a rude behavior in my mind. In China, people smoke everywhere, for instance, in bus,on the road and so on. It do harm for the people who don't smoke, because it threats their health. We can learn from Britain that there's no smoking in public but smoking sections provided for smokers. I think China should rule people and people should rule themselves, in order to leave a good impression on others from other countries.

I want to talk about Tipping a taxi driver. In China, people have not habits to tip the taxi driver. If you do so, maybe the driver will you are strange, and do not respect him. But on the contrary, in the western countries, people always give tips to the driver. Because giving tips is a way to show their respect to the drivers and affirmation of drivers work.

wedding etiquette

Post  vivian罗 on Wed Sep 24, 2014 4:32 am

Western wedding is solemn and romantic, and the emphasis is sacred and simple------ "the wedding before God ", while Chinese wedding is particular about boisterousness and joyousness, also can give consideration to personal affection of the relatives of the bride and groom. It shows the significance of Chinese traditional cultural------ “the wedding before people”.

Waiting for a bus

Post  Silky Yeung on Wed Sep 24, 2014 9:05 am

While waiting for a bus in China, most of people will not line up. When the bus comes, people will jump the queue and push others in order to get a seat in the bus. For people from other countries, like America, they will line up to wait for the bus, and offer the seat to somebody who needs it.

Tipping a taxi driver

Post  Louisa Jiang on Wed Sep 24, 2014 1:44 pm

In our country, we don't give tips to the taxi driver. The payment includes the salary of the driver. But in some counties, especically the western countires, we have to tip. Because no tipping means the driver services you for free. In China, we think just the rich people would tip for the good service.

Manners

Post  Summer Xia on Wed Sep 24, 2014 5:12 pm

There are many differences between mainland China and other countries in manners. For example, westerners always wait on line orderly at bus stations. however, in China, especially in the past, people were often seen crowding into a bus or a train. recently, the situation has been improved. but as far as i am concerned, developing China has a long way to go on manners.
